This 8-day Anini journey takes you beyond the usual routes, beginning in Dibrugarh and travelling through Roing, Mayudia Pass and the Dibang Valley before reaching the remote landscapes around Anini.
Along the way, experience winding Himalayan roads, dense mountain forests, cascading waterfalls and vast grasslands. Venture further into the wilderness towards Chigu Camp, explore the trails around Pomo, and experience the landscapes that make the Dibang Valley one of the most remote regions of Northeast India.

Arrival in Dibrugarh
In the evening, meet your Road Captain and fellow travellers for a welcome gathering. Get introduced to the group and go through the journey ahead, including important trip information, riding guidelines, safety protocols and what to expect during this remote Himalayan expedition.
Enjoy a relaxed evening in Dibrugarh before the road into Arunachal Pradesh begins.

Dibrugarh to Roing | Crossing into Arunachal
The route takes you towards Sadiya Bridge, where you cross the Brahmaputra and leave the plains of Assam behind. From here, the landscape gradually transforms into forested mountains, remote villages and winding Himalayan roads.
Continue towards Roing through the changing landscapes of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Arrive in Roing, check in to your accommodation and spend the evening relaxing after the day's ride.

Roing to Anini | Across Mayudia Pass
Leave Roing after breakfast and begin your ascent towards Mayudia Pass, surrounded by dense forests and dramatic mountain landscapes. As the road climbs higher, the scenery becomes increasingly remote and the mountains begin to dominate the horizon.
Continue towards Anini through towering mountains, forests and deep valleys. Arrive in Anini, the headquarters of Dibang Valley district, and settle in for the evening.

Anini to Chigu Camp | Waterfalls & High-altitude Wilderness
The route takes you through Matu Falls, where cascading water meets the surrounding wilderness. Continue onwards through Bruni before reaching the expansive Emuli Grassland, surrounded by dramatic mountains and the untouched landscapes of the Dibang Valley.
As the day progresses, continue towards Chigu Camp. Arrive at camp and spend the night surrounded by the peaceful wilderness of Arunachal Pradesh.

Chigu Camp to Anini | The Pomo Trek
Begin your journey back towards Anini with the Pomo Trek, leaving the road behind to explore the forests and mountain trails of the Dibang Valley. Walk through pristine natural surroundings and experience the untouched character of this remote Himalayan region.
After completing the trek, continue towards Anini and arrive by evening. Take some time to rest after a full day of adventure in the mountains.

Anini to Roing | Retracing the Mountain Road
Retrace the scenic mountain roads through the Dibang Valley, passing through the dramatic landscapes and remote villages that shaped the first half of your journey. With the route now familiar, take the opportunity to appreciate the mountains, forests and valleys from a different perspective.
Arrive in Roing by evening and settle into your accommodation.

Roing to Dibrugarh | Back Towards the Plains
Cross back towards Assam as the mountains gradually give way to the plains. The changing landscape offers one final opportunity to take in the scenery and reflect on the experiences of your Anini expedition.
Arrive in Dibrugarh by evening and check in to your accommodation. Spend your final evening relaxing with the group after the journey.

October to May is generally considered a more suitable period for travelling to Anini, with relatively better road and weather conditions. The monsoon can make the remote mountain roads more challenging and may affect accessibility
Yes. Indian travellers require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh, while foreign travellers require the applicable Protected Area Permit.
Anini is a remote Himalayan expedition, involving long road journeys, mountain roads and trekking. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, particularly for the Pomo Trek and the days spent exploring the remote Dibang Valley.
Pack warm layers, waterproof outerwear, comfortable trekking shoes, gloves, personal medicines, sunscreen, sunglasses and a power bank. Since Anini is remote, it is important to carry your essential personal items with you.
Yes. Weather and road conditions in the remote Dibang Valley can change quickly and may affect travel plans. If a route or activity becomes unsafe, our Road Captain may modify the itinerary to ensure the safety of the group.
Connectivity can be limited in remote parts of the Dibang Valley, particularly around Chigu Camp and during sections of the journey. Travellers should be prepared for periods without reliable mobile or internet connectivity.
