Frequently Asked Before You Go
March to June and September to November are generally good periods for travelling to Tawang, with more favourable road and weather conditions. Winter offers spectacular snow but can also bring road closures and difficult conditions at higher passes.
Yes. Indian travellers require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. Additional permission is required for restricted areas such as Bumla Pass, and our team will guide you through the necessary documentation.
Tawang involves long mountain drives and high-altitude locations, including Sela Pass and Bumla Pass. Travellers should be comfortable with cold temperatures and high-altitude conditions, while the itinerary allows time for acclimatisation.
Carry warm layers, a good winter jacket, gloves, woollen socks, comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and personal medicines. For winter departures, heavier thermal clothing and proper cold-weather gear are essential.
Bumla Pass is a restricted border area and requires additional permission and clearance. Access is also dependent on weather, road conditions and local security restrictions, so visiting Bumla cannot always be guaranteed.
Yes. Snowfall, heavy rain, landslides and road closures can affect access to high-altitude areas. If conditions become unsafe, our team may modify the route or activities to prioritise the safety of everyone on the tour.
